Hit-and-run driver allegedly laughed after fatal accident

If you were in an accident and have been accused of drunk driving, you know you have the right to fight that charge. It can quickly become harder to do so if you're accused of mocking or laughing after the accident, though, like in this case. That's why having your attorney on your side from the beginning is so important; having a media bias against you can hurt your reputation, even if the entire case is dropped.

The woman involved in this crash was reportedly hysterical, her attorney claims, but a witness reported that she was laughing after she fled the scene of a fatal accident. The 24-year-old woman was located by police after fleeing because she was inspecting her vehicle; a witness reported her odd behavior.

Her attorney claims that the witness was mistaken and that the woman was more than likely upset and "freaking out" over the accident. She was arrested on the suspicion of vehicular homicide, DUI and hit-and-run. She was discovered with 30 cans of beer in her vehicle with only five unopened; she refused to take any roadside tests.

The woman and her family have been taking the case seriously, her attorney stated, but her family is receiving threats. She is currently on probation for driving while ability impaired, which is a charge filed when the person is impaired but under the legal limit for alcohol intoxication. She previously had two other alcohol-related arrests. One was for public intoxication, and the other was for driving under the influence. Despite this, her penalties did not cost her the right to drive, which is why she was still on the road legally.
