Colorado woman crashes into home, drives off before DUI arrest

According to Colorado media reports, a 56-year-old woman slammed her car into a house earlier this week. She knocked out the bedroom wall and the home’s front door. She then backed her vehicle out and over debris and drove off, law enforcement officials said.

No one was injured in the afternoon crash. Police later arrested her and charged her with DUI.

The owner of the house was reportedly in the living room when the car hit his house. He was about 10 feet away when the vehicle collapsed the wall and door.

According to news reports, the car had first hit a Colorado Springs neighbor’s fence before it hit the house.

Witnesses told police that they saw the woman back her car out of the extensively damaged property and then drive to her own residence, which is apparently down the street.

It is not clear from news reports how much time lapsed between the crash and her arrest.

While we do not know if the woman is guilty of the allegations against her, we do know that everyone has a right to present with a criminal defense attorney their side of the story.

In some cases, weather conditions might be responsible for a crash and in other cases, the accused might have had something to drink after arriving home rather than before an accident. As we stated, we don’t know the facts here, but it is certainly possible that mitigating factors exist that a court or prosecutor should consider.

An experienced attorney can help the accused face the justice system, knowing that their rights and interests will be protected in negotiations, plea agreements and at trial.
