A Proven Criminal Defense Team

Why is Halloween truly scary for some Colorado motorists?

What are you doing next week on Thursday night?

Perhaps you’re planning to stay home to host hordes of costume-clad kids excited to ring your doorbell and watch while you drop candy into the bags they’re holding. Or maybe you anticipate heading out with family and friends to some sponsored event that occurs annually on October 31.

And it could be the case, of course, that you’re attending some holiday-themed event at a local bar, restaurant or other venue. If that’s the case, you might just have a drink or two in acknowledging the festive nature of Halloween.

For many residents in Denver and elsewhere across the state, it’s shortly after that point that Halloween revelry turns decidedly into something else. For Colorado drivers pulled over for suspected drunk driving, Halloween instantly becomes a night of horrors rather than of celebration.

We note that unfortunate reality that occurs each year on the holiday and surrounding days for many motorists on our criminal defense website at the Denver-based law firm of Shazam Kianpour & Associates. We underscored in a prior blog post that Halloween revelry comes to an instant halt annually for hundreds of drivers pulled over by state troopers and local police officers for an alleged DUI offense.

That cited blog entry notes that 325 DUI arrests were made statewide in a recent year during the Halloween enforcement period. That approximate number is repeated annually.

The fallout for detained motorists can truly be scarier than anything otherwise featuring on a night devoted to pseudo-fright and sudden surprises. We have chronicled in many previous blog entries the cumulative and harsh penalties that can attach in a Colorado drunk conviction.

We wish all our readers a fun and safe holiday experience. And we impart to a select audience that a proven criminal defense team can provide them with diligent legal counsel in the event they unexpectedly have an adverse legal encounter on Halloween.
