Pre-Labor Day ramped-up DUI enforcement efforts spotlighted

You’re familiar with this process.

Colorado joins other states across the country in conducting recurring DUI crackdown initiatives throughout each year. Those coincide with periods surrounding holidays like Memorial Day, Labor Day and Christmas.

We know that regular readers of our Shazam Kianpour & Associates blog posts are well familiar with such enforcement programs. Our Denver criminal defense law firm routinely signals upcoming crackdown periods and relevant details.

To wit: Please be advised of the most recent statewide initiative, which commenced last Friday and is slated to continue through September 3. That period spans the Labor Day holiday weekend, when legions of motorists are on roadways returning from end-of-summer vacations.

As always, state authorities want Colorado drivers to know that they will be out in force on streets and highways across the state, looking for evidence of behind-the-wheel intoxication.

They cite resounding success annually in that endeavor. Reportedly, law enforcers arrested a whopping 936 Colorado drivers for DUI during last year’s Labor Day campaign.

It’s not hard to see why such results occur. The state’s Department of Transportation spearheads the initiatives, with CDOT being joined by the Colorado State Patrol and police agencies statewide. Scores of enforcement departments work in sync to identify, arrest and criminally charge motorists with behind-the-wheel drinking offenses.

Drunk driving convictions yield starkly adverse penalties, ranging from incarceration and heavy fines to license suspension, mandatory drug/alcohol classes and additional exactions.

Questions or concerns regarding any aspect of a DUI stop/arrest can be directed to a proven criminal defense legal team.
