Colorado among least friendly of all states for speeders

On Behalf of | Jul 9, 2018 | Traffic Violations |

We noted in a recent blog post the traffic ticket woes of now former Denver Police Chief Robert White while he was on the job. And we stressed in our July 6 entry that the chief’s story was hardly singular, because “just about everyone can be pulled over and ticketed for some alleged offense.”

Like speeding, for instance, which is a particularly sensitive subject for many Colorado motorists who have been ticketed for that offense. State drivers – especially individuals who at some time in their lives have resided in other states – flatly know that Colorado is a comparatively unfriendly venue when it comes to radar guns displaying over-the-limit readings.

The personal finance website WalletHub states in a recent article the truism that, “Some states are tougher on speeding and reckless driving than others.”

And then it readily confirms based on extensive research what legions of Coloradans already know well, namely this: Colorado is distinctly harsh territory for anyone who strays over a posted speed limit. In fact, WalletHub ranks the state as the second strictest in the country (following only Delaware) for the punitive exactions it doles out on offenders.

Here’s a quick insertion and food for thought for consistently heavy-footed motorists: If you’re seeking leniency when it comes to speeding, try Texas. That state ranked dead last in WalletHub’s rankings.
