You're about to see more -- many more -- police out on CO roads

When a Colorado media source refers to an imminently upcoming law enforcement initiative as "the most aggressive effort of the year to snag drunk drivers," that truly means something.

The implications are rendered instantly clear from just a quick glance at 2016-related numbers relevant to the same campaign.

Centrally, they stress this: Colorado's statewide DUI crackdown over last year's extended Labor Day holiday period (we're talking a two-week-plus timeframe leading up to and including that holiday) reportedly netted 974 drunk drivers.

Some readers of our blog at the Denver DUI defense law firm of Shazam Kianpour & Associates might reasonably regard that number as being astounding.

Indeed, it certainly reflects a massive statewide commitment of time, resources and flat-out police power, as well as a demonstrated determination by law enforcers to secure as many DUI-related arrests and convictions as they possibly can to send a message.

That message is crystal clear and firmly underscored by "The Heat Is On" mantra of the year-round campaign pursuant to which the Labor Day crackdown and a number of other time-specific enforcement initiatives are carried out.

We routinely tell our readers to take all due precautions when driving during such periods and, of course, at all times of the year.

The resolve of state police agencies during special enforcement periods is unequivocally clear. The above-cited news report notes that this year, for example, "Over 110 law enforcement agencies across Colorado will band together to crack down on DUI drivers" through the first week of September.

We wish all our readers a happy Labor Day holiday and safe motoring in their travels throughout the state.
