Halloween.

Chances are you thought about candy, costumes, parties and fun with family and friends.
Unfortunately, Halloween is known for something more sinister than provocative costumes and sweet snacks; it is known for increased arrests for driving under the influence (DUI).
For the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol, and local law enforcement, you could say that Halloween is more like Christmas in October.
They are out in full force seeking to haul in costumed partiers who have imbibed a bit too much before getting behind the wheel. Last year, they even gave their stepped up enforcement efforts a fancy name: “The Heat Is On”.
According to Fox 31 in Denver, there were more than 250 drivers arrested for impaired driving during 2015’s Halloween weekend (October 30-November 2).
How Can You Take The Heat Off?
We have a well-deserved reputation for providing outstanding representation in DUI cases, but we hope we never need to meet you. If you follow these tips before, during, and after your Halloween party, you can avoid becoming a DUI statistic:
- Plan for the end of the night, whether that means scheduling a taxi pick up, choosing a designated driver, or choosing to crash at the party.
- Didn’t plan beforehand? It’s not too later. Call a sober friend or family member, call a taxi, or hop on a bus or other form of public transportation.
- Keep an eye on your friends and don’t get in a vehicle with someone who has been drinking. If you have to, take the keys away. Trust us, they’ll thank you in the morning.
