Colorado woman charged with DUI three times in one week

Because it sits on the outer southeast corner of the Denver metro area, Parker doesn’t often make headlines. But a recent case there was under the spotlight of national attention after a Douglas County woman was taken into police custody on suspicion of driving under the influence three times in a single week.

The 40-year-old office manager faces a litany of criminal charges that include child abuse because her teenage daughter was in the vehicle at the time of the first of the woman’s DUI arrests.

The woman was booked into the Douglas County jail after her third arrest. On that day, she was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and contempt of court. She was being held in lieu of a $225,000 bond, according to jail records.

After that arrest, she spoke on-camera with a local TV station while she was behind bars. Seated behind a protective glass wall, the woman told a reporter that if she hurt anyone “it was wrong, just wrong.” There were no indications in the media reports that anyone was injured in any of the woman’s arrests or alleged DUI incidents.

The woman told KUSA that she had been taking prescribed medications at the times of her arrests. She said the medications might be the cause of any poor driving.

As many readers undoubtedly know, there are a number of prescription medications that can have negative effects on a person’s ability to drive. Always check the label for warnings, and ask your physician and pharmacist for more details.

Speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney if you face a dilemma similar to the one this woman must contend with now.
