When someone is arrested, they might not even understand what they did wrong. While police or prosecutors might tell them what charges they are facing, they might not give much more detail as the government develops a case against the person.

This can happen in a hit-and-run case, especially if the person loaned their vehicle to a friend or family member who was involved in an accident. A man was arrested late last week in Denver. Police say the man was involved in a hit-and-run accident that left another person seriously injured. They haven’t disclosed why they think this man was connected to the accident.

Whatever a person’s connection to a vehicle that might have been part of a crime, it is important that the person being accused understands their rights. Speaking with an experienced criminal defense attorney might be a wise decision for anyone accused of a crime in Denver. They can help a person understand their rights, work to gather information about the accusation, and start forming a rigorous defense.

Sometimes people become confused as to why they are arrested, or say things because they are stressed about the arrest and accusations. These statements and answers to police questioning can be used against a person in court. This could lead to a wrongful conviction. An attorney can be with a person during any conversations with authorities to make sure their rights are preserved. They can help the person prevent making any statements that might be used to incriminate the accused.
