Colorado suspect pleads not guilty to out-of-state rape charge

On Behalf of | Oct 5, 2011 | Sexual Assault |

There are certainly some types of cases that produce more public and media outcry than others. Those cases often involve children and sex crimes, which is why a sex assault on a child case involving a man from Colorado has stirred up an emotional public response.

In a courtroom, however, emotion cannot play a part in whether a man is convicted of a crime. In this case, it will be important for level heads to prevail despite the upsetting allegation involved. The Colorado man is being charged with the rape of an 11-month-old baby.

According to a Denver news report, investigators from Boston started the nearly year-long investigation related to this case after video reportedly depicting child porn was found. The video supposedly showed the suspect with the child, and authorities claim that they were able to use details from the tape to connect the suspect to the incident.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the sex assault charge last Friday and surely has a fight for his life ahead of him. Any rape allegation not only puts a person’s freedom on the line, but it also puts their name at significant risk of lasting damage. When a child is supposedly the victim of the crime, then any potential damage increases.

It will take a vigilant, aggressive and experienced criminal defense attorney to ensure that this defendant has the best shot at defending his future.

Sources do not indicate when the trial begins in this case. We will post an update as more details behind the defendant’s not guilty plea are revealed.
