Two Colorado residents arrested for drug charges

Two people were arrested in another state after a traffic stop for allegedly going through a red light. The police stopped the Colorado couple when travelling in their motor home. Although the arrest didn’t happen in Colorado, they are facing severe charges after police say the driver of the motor home admitting to having marijuana in the vehicle.

They are now being charged with possession of narcotics, possession of controlled substance, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotics not in a proper container. When someone is accused of a crime, prosecutors often try to file as many charges as possible against the person.

Speaking with an experienced criminal defense attorney might be a wise decision after someone is arrested for a drug crime. Even if the person hasn’t been formally charged, an attorney can work with them to help them understand their rights and start to formulate a defense.

Charges similar to these might result in a person spending significant time in prison and significant fines. In addition to any prison time or fines that a person might face, they could also have a stigma attached to their name for any convictions. This can make it difficult for a person to seek employment in some cases, and could even affect a person’s child custody arrangement if they share custody of their children. A criminal defense can help a person clear their name of wrongdoing and help them move forward with their life after an arrest.
