Crash leads to several criminal charges against Colorado mother

Have you ever had a day where you feel like nothing else can go wrong? Maybe you wake up to a broken coffee machine and then an empty tank of gas in the car. Maybe you get pulled over for speeding, making you late to work. And when you get to work, it's a day full of obnoxious customer calls that you can't shake once you get home.

While that undoubtedly sounds like a rough sequence of events, one Colorado mother reportedly had a more seriously difficult time on Wednesday night. After being investigated for a crash she was involved in, she wound up facing various Colorado criminal charges, from traffic violations to a drug charge to child abuse.

According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, the 27-year-old woman was carrying her two children in her car with her on Wednesday night when a traffic accident occurred. When police arrived at and investigated the scene, they found more than the everyday accident scene.

They allegedly found a significant amount of marijuana in the woman's car - a reported 49 pounds of it. As a result of that supposed discovery, the mother was arrested for suspicion of a drug crime. Sources report that this is the suspect's second time being involved with a possible possession charge. At the time of her recent arrest, she was still on probation from a 2010 drug crime conviction.

Beyond the potential drug charge that the Colorado mother could face, her recent arrest also was related to authorities' suspicion that she is responsible for child abuse. The kids had not been buckled up in the car (no one was injured in the crash) and were reportedly in vehicle with the large amount of marijuana.

If there are updates to this case we will post an update.
