Denver Bronco pleads not guilty to sex assault charge

From the perspective of the public, it seems as though professional athletes wind up in legal trouble more often than the average person. It could be because they truly get in trouble, but it could also be that they are easy targets of people seeking to benefit from their downfall.

In the past year, a number of Denver Broncos players have been charged with various different crimes. Currently, cornerback Perrish Cox faces a very serious charge: sexual assault while the victim was incapable of determining the nature of the conduct. He is out on bail but due in court later this summer.

According to ESPN, the allegations against Cox involve an incident that supposedly happened in September of last year. Following requests from both legal teams in this Colorado rape case, further details of the alleged sex crime are being kept private.

What we do know is that Cox pleaded not guilty to the sexual assault charge on Monday. This sex crime case deserves a good fight, as, according to reports, a guilty verdict could mean a life prison sentence for the young star athlete.

Various media sources are pushing for the information from this case to become public. A hearing regarding keeping the case sealed is scheduled. When there is more information about this case, we will post an update. If it is unsealed, we obviously would have more points to share. However, unsealing it could possibly be more detrimental to Cox than a mere allegation already can be.

The next scheduled hearing in this sexual assault case is on Aug. 26. Throughout this process, Cox is reportedly working through his stress by continuing to train for an NFL season that might never be. A lot is up in the air for this young man.
