SHAZAM KIANPOUR: In the state of Colorado, DUIs have become so complicated. They're becoming completely scientific creatures. And there are so many different ways that the government can approach that and try to take these away from you. Sometimes it's mandatory jail if your blood alcohol is past a certain limit. Other ways the government can get you is by requiring you put an interlock device on your vehicle where you have to blow into it before the car will even start.

If you are stopped, the only information you need to give an officer who's investigating you for a DUI is your name, address, date of birth, license, registration, and proof of insurance. You don't even have to get out of the vehicle.

Don't give in to their questioning. That's where most people get into trouble. If they ask you if you want to submit to a test at the station, then choose blood or breath. You could always refuse the test. That can have consequences of your license being suspended.
